Gun Manufacturers Relocating to SC?…

In light of very restrictive gun and ammunition laws that have recently been passed in New York and Colorado, gun manufacturers in those states are seriously considering relocating to other states which are more Second Amendment friendly.

As of February 15, at least six gun manufacturers and suppliers – LaRue Tactical, Olympic Arms, Extreme Firepower Inc, LLC, Templar Custom, York Arms, and Cheaper than Dirt have announced that they will no longer sell to law enforcement in states that have restrictive bans any guns or accessories that non-law enforcement citizens are not allowed to purchase/own under the new laws.  Some have even cancelled existing orders to law enforcement while notifying non-law enforcement citizens with existing orders that they would make arraignments to have their orders shipped to other states where they would be legal.

Duncan created a lot of speculation yesterday when he posted the above video on his facebook page along with the statement “In case you missed this, CBS Evening News highlighted our efforts to encourage Remington to relocate its facilities to South Carolina. I’ll be making an exciting announcement related to this issue very soon, so stay tuned…”

Duncan later posted this story on his facebook page regarding Colorado based Magpul Industries Corp, a manufacturer of high-capacity ammunition magazines and stated that “Here’s a preview of tomorrow’s news…”

This morning Duncan posted a copy of a letter he sent to Magpul dated yesterday saying on his post that “If NY & CO want to demonize guns and gun owners, then I’ll fight to bring firearms companies from those states to SC. I wrote to Magpul in CO (who has already threatened to leave) and encouraged them to bring their jobs to South Carolina. Join the effort by e-mailing them at magpul@magpul.com. South Carolina supports the second amendment and would welcome Magpul with open arms!!”

Several other states are also courting Remington and Magpul for a possible relocation.

It’s not yet clear what Duncan’s promised announcement is, but he clearly indicated that it was related to Remington and or Magpul’s possible relocation.  Since the letter sent to Magpul was just dated as of yesterday it would seem premature for him to be alluding to them relocating yet.  Since the letter sent to Remington was sent a couple weeks ago then perhaps they have made some decision that he’s referring to.

It will be interesting to see what indeed Duncan is going to announce.  Certainly the state of South Carolina would welcome any gun manufacturer(s) and the jobs they would bring.
